Project write up in PL24 Mag

The Covid and Beyond Project has been running for a couple of months now and we’re delighted to say that so far it’s been a real success and we’re getting some great feedback from our participants.

After gaining our funding from Creative Civic Change, which means that

locals (and friends from further afield) have been busy singing for heroes; sewing for heroes; doodling; drawing; re-purposing old stuff into new fun things; writing poetry, letters and journals; and taking part in one-to-one interviews – what a list!

All of these activities are still running, and there are even more to come: the ceramic pieces of our giant commemorative pitcher will be ready to distribute to individuals for painting after Christmas and then we have drama improvisation evenings and also our clay rooms from memory sessions starting up too. There is so much to do – look for our posters in here in the PL24 mag and out and about.

Everyone involved is part of our project’s aim: to tell Par Bay’s story, using the many workshops as individual forms of expression, to show our community and the rest of the world, some of the positive things we are doing to help us get through Covid.

Because of Covid, a lot of these activities have had to take place online, but we have been working on other ways to reach people and now, thanks to the support of our local shops there are four drop boxes at: Biscovey Post Office; Par Post Office; St Blazey Post Office; Tywardreath Shop, with hopefully more to follow.

The drop boxes will work a bit like ‘click and collect’: you request what you want, which drop box you’ll be using and when you’ll be there – and we’ll make sure everything’s there waiting for you next time you’re out and about doing your local shopping. You can contact us to make your request either by phone, email or via our Facebook click and collect page (see below).

From the boxes you’ll be able to collect activity sheets for all of our workshops and activities, including any specialist materials you might need, then you can just pop any completed crafts that you want to share with us back in the box and we’ll pick them up.

If you can’t get to the drop boxes, don’t worry, we will even deliver things direct to your door if we need to (when lockdown rules allow it), following all Covid safety procedures of course.

Along with other local artists we want to help create a hub of creativity that will last, grow and brighten the days and lives of all local residents here in Par Bay.

Come join us and meet other like-minded people.

We’re not just being creative,
