We were a much smaller group this evening due to the Easter holidays and some people having extra work commitments, but we had a very productive session nevertheless.
Our first exercise was Contrast Collision, where participants had to imagine themselves in two complete, extreme opposite settings. They then had to work out a way of travelling between the two and put this in a middle, bridging stanza. The group became so absorbed in this that they asked for more writing time and Jeff said he would like to continue working with the concept after the workshop too.
Freda chose our theme tonight and we’ve promised to get our own back when we get the chance, haha! - ‘Video Games’!
This didn’t just inspire some lovely writing, but a good deal very in depth discussion too. We had a great time talking about how the technological revolution has impacted on society and also realised that our opinions were all quite generational too. As a result, the idea of ‘identity’ comes through very strongly in the fantastic poems that were written tonight.
Well done wonderful poets and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone back in the group again soon.
