Poetry workshop write-up

Tonight’s words have been truly inspirational, the way our group plunges into the writing exercises reminds me of top class Olympic divers. The exercise is set and I can see how keen everyone is to get started, then they launch themselves off the top platform with a flying leap, twisting and turning through the articulations of their ideas with the perfect precision of an acrobat as they dive deep into the challenge. …and so many ideas too, all stemming from one tiny seed, darting, lighting the darkness like fireworks, shooting in all directions at once.

The exercise was Super power, and we were transported from the daunting, hardened judgmental power of the Victorianesque working-class matriarch in one poem, to ‘Money-man’ who could shoot cash from his fingers in another!

Then the theme was shoes and Jeff beautifully rekindled the soul of a sole in his poem while Sue took us on a tale of lost shoes and sandy toes. I know I say it pretty much every week, but AMAZING is the word that always comes to mind when I’m sitting here in awe, listening to these wonderful poets.

Thank you to a truly fantastic group.

Our book will be out on Saturday too!!

All 182 pages will be available at our event this Saturday where you can pick one up for free, or if you’d like to make a donation, we will be most grateful. All proceeds will go towards helping our local parks at Old Roselyon and Penarwyn, where the community are raising funds to

replace equipment which has been

removed by the council.

Come and find us at Par Track, on the Rugby area, next to the pump track, we’ll be there between 10:30am - 12:30pm and 1:30 -4:00pm offering free workshops and showcasing some of the incredible creations participants have made during out Covid and Beyond Project.

Have a look at the poems in our gallery or check out our Facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/poetryfromparbay/
