What a wonderful mixed bag of poetry we had in this week’s workshop.
We started by welcoming our newest participant to the group, the lovely Seren, who joined in straight away and fitted right in, lovely to have you aboard.
The writing exercise was ‘Precious Gift’ and before we started we talked about the many forms a gift can take, from a hug or the simplest of smiles to the most expensive present money can buy. As always, even though the poems created were all so incredibly unique we managed to find a common thread, and this week it was the love behind each gift. Some poems made us smile, some made us laugh out loud and some swelled our hearts, bringing us to the verge of tears, but they all made us think about who and what are most precious to us. The words certainly were wonderful tonight.
Poppy chose our theme for the week and she decided upon food. We always begin out themed work with some free-writing and this took people in some surprising
directions – it’s great to see how everyone is embracing the fee-writing, learning to relax with it and letting it lead their ideas.
We had some smashing sensory poems about proper foody moments which made our mouths water, and then some went down the avenue of excess, indulgence and materialism with some very wise words – all brilliant, especially bearing in mind that they’re written in just five minutes.
Well done to our worderly crew!!
Sadly this is our last workshop now for a few weeks.
Can’t wait to get going again in mid-January.
