Lots of laughs again tonight, especially when Jeff told us what he’d chosen for our themed poems this week: Licking envelopes!! It brought forth some great pieces though with lovely descriptions that helped us to really conjure up a picture. Then we had the very clever link to the phrase ‘pushing the envelope’ (pushing boundaries).
The exercise was very difficult tonight, ‘Ventrilloquy’ pushed participants to bring dialogue, dialect and individual conversational characteristics into their poetry as they retold the story of a memorable conversation. Again this fabulous group rose to the challenge producing some remarkable writing. The accents had us all in stitches.
The date for our Cross-Pollination open mic poetry night has been set. Our Corby friends are going to join us on Monday February 15th at 7:00pm for an evening of socialising and
sharing our poems. We’re all really excited about it and have already started discussing what we can read out or what new poems we’re going to write.
Here’s George and Tim from KHL Big Local where we began planning the open mic night.
