Pen Pal Letters to Trecarrel nursing home.

Updated: Feb 15, 2021

Just picked up our first pen-pal letter for the residents of Trecarrel Residential Home. It’s from Nigel who has written a lovely long letter and included photos too, which will mean so much to the residents when I deliver it later in the week (after leaving it to rest for 72hrs to stay Covid-safe).

I have two pen-pals signed up at the moment, and between them, we are going to get a couple of letters to Trecarrel each month. I’m sure that when word gets around our pen-pal group will grow too, and then we'll be able to put some smiles on a few more faces.

I’m so excited to get this scheme going as it will really help older residents from our community, some of whom are perhaps not so mobile and therefore dependent on visits from family and friends to keep them in touch with the outside world.

The recent months have been particularly difficult for local care and residential homes who all closed their doors before lockdown, in order to keep everyone safe – and now they have gone back into lockdown again too, so it must feel like the isolation is lasting forever for these people. That’s why I can’t wait to deliver our first letter on Thursday – and we’re determined to keep them coming too.
